"The Big Issue" During Anti-Poverty week we supported those experiencing disadvantage through the power of sport.
The Big Issue is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and creating work opportunities for homeless, marginalised and disadvantaged people. Simply put, they help people help themselves by running social enterprises to create work opportunities for people who are unable to access mainstream jobs.
The Big Issue, in partnership with The Parliamentary Sports Club, hosted a Street Soccer tournament on 16th October 2019. Comprising of a round-robin style competition with 6 teams in two pools the event concluded with a nail-biting grand final between the Federal Politicians and the Department of Health. The Department of Health appropriately ran out worthy winners assisted by Street Soccer team members.
